Logging in to Students Online

Some sections of Students Online are only available by logging in to the site. You need your Student Number and your HSC PIN to log in.

Student Number

Your received a unique Student Number from your school in Year 10. This number was provided by the Board of Studies. It is how the Board identifies you. Attached to it are all your important details including your address, phone number, date of birth and the courses you are studying. Check your details are correct in My Details and alert your school if anything is incorrect.

Your UAC application number and UAC PIN are different to your Board of Studies Student Number and HSC PIN – contact the Universities Admissions Centre for more information.

HSC Personal Identification Number (HSC PIN)

All Year 12 students receive an HSC PIN from school at the beginning of Year 12. This HSC PIN is provided by the Board of Studies. You need your HSC PIN, along with your Student Number, to log in to your Students Online account and access your personal HSC details. You will also use your HSC PIN to get your HSC results online or by SMS in December.

If you wish to change your HSC PIN, log in with your Student Number and HSC PIN and go to My Details where there is an option to change your HSC PIN. Your new HSC PIN must be a six digit number between 100000 and 999999. Find out how to recover a forgotten HSC PIN below.

Your UAC application number and UAC PIN are different to your Student Number and HSC PIN – contact the Universities Admissions Centre for more information.

Forgotten HSC PIN

Your HSC PIN is on a card on the letter you received at school at the beginning of the year. If you don't have this, you can have your HSC PIN re-issued.

We can email you a "one time only" link to access your account to then change your HSC PIN to something you will remember. The online Forgotten PIN service is only available if you have already submitted your email address and answered a security question in My Details. Go to Forgotten PIN.

Otherwise, contact the Student Records Unit on 02 9367 8001 and be prepared to answer some identification questions (FYI you can update your security question in My Details now). You may need to send a signed letter with your request and suitable proof of identity such as a copy of your driver's licence or proof of age card. Address your letter to Student Records, Office of the Board of Studies, PO Box 5300, Sydney, NSW, 2001.
